In the past few months, two of my stories have found reprint homes and three new stories have found homes!
Midas, a microfiction, was accepted in Brilliant Flash Fiction's 10th Anniversary print anthology on TENacity.
Ardent Dawn Publishing (Zasra Press) accepted Good Intentions as part of their Shadowtouched Anthology, which is slotted to release in October 2024.
What's in a Name, one of the first short stories I ever wrote, has found a home with Cloaked Press and will appear in their Fall into Fantasy in September 2024.
Borrowed Breath and Starlit Scales will be reprinted in Flash Fiction Online, date TBA.
In a World I Cannot Reach (previously not free online) will be reprinted in Moonday Mag in their 7th issue, July 2025.
I haven't written too many new short stories as much of my attention has been directed toward editing my main series while I work on The Weather Watcher novel. With a new school year and softball tournaments on the weekends, writing in general has slowed a bit.
Not to mention we have adopted 4 cats since February and they always get cuddy when I sit down to write! How can I resist?!
Querying for Awakener is slowing and while it's discouraging, I still refuse to give up on it. I will continue to work on it, submit it when agents on my watch list open and
Currently, two more shorts have been passed on to editors for final consideration and I can't be more excited.
I've also spent the last 9 months running small writing workshops with my writing group on the 'off weeks' of our critique rotation. I've taken subjects from Donald Maass's Emotional Craft of Fiction & The Breakout Novel, Anne Lamott's Bird By Bird, and I'm starting Lisa Cron's craft book, Story Genius. I'll pick a topic to briefly overview, we'll do a warm-up (usually related) and after the topic overview, we'll do an application exercise. Anyone's welcome to share, but it's not required.
I've really enjoyed it and am ready to dive into more craft books to create new sessions. I'll be completing our 20th session next Monday! Any writer who is interested in joining us is welcome. We've had guest writers pop in here and there, no commitments, we are just there to write and have a good time, share our progress. It's a nice sense of community support and I think we need more of that as writers.
If you're a writer looking for a little community time, no commitments, send me a message and I'll give you the details. :)
